A heated clash erupted in the West Bengal Assembly as BJP legislators walked out in protest against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government over the Hindu-Muslim issue. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed the House, following which BJP leaders accused her of dividing society and sidelining Hindu interests. Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari led the attack, declaring, "Mamata led a march in Bengal instead of celebrating the Ram Temple inauguration. TMC is an anti-Hindu government." BJP leaders announced statewide protests, vowing to take the issue to the public.
The BJP's walkout came after Mamata Banerjee ordered a probe into alleged voter list irregularities across all districts in West Bengal. She accused the BJP of adding fake voters in Maharashtra and Delhi elections and claimed the same was happening in Bengal. "Democratic processes must be protected," Banerjee said, asserting that her government would not allow electoral manipulation. BJP, in response, alleged that the probe was politically motivated and aimed at targeting opposition strongholds.
Suvendu Adhikari intensified his attack outside the Assembly, accusing the TMC of appeasement politics. "If one Suvendu dies, a crore Suvendus will rise," he declared, rallying BJP supporters. The party announced immediate mobilization of its cadre for large-scale demonstrations. With the TMC defending its stance and BJP escalating its protests, political tensions in Bengal continue to rise ahead of upcoming elections.
